Ex-Man United star tells Arsenal: This is the difference between Ozil and Sanchez
Ray Wilkins explains the difference between Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in the Arsenal side
Ray Wilkins has explained the difference between Arsenal superstars Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The Germany international has been heavily criticised over the past week after Arsenal’s back-to-back Premier League defeats at Everton and Manchester City to leave their title bid in tatters.
Ozil has scored five times in 16 Premier League appearances so far this season, however, the German proved unable to fire the Gunners to victories in their last two Premier League outings.
Sanchez broke the deadlock at Goodison Park before Everton came from behind to seal three points in a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Seamus Coleman and Ashley Williams.
Arsenal surrendered a leading position to lose 2-1 to title rivals Manchester City following goals from Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling in the second half at the Etihad Stadium.
Former Manchester United midfielder Wilkins highlighted the subtle differences between Ozil and Sanchez in the Arsenal side.
“The one thing I’d say about Sanchez is when they’re losing, you still see Sanchez in the game. He’s trying to do something. I’m afraid with Ozil, when it does go against him, he does disappear a touch,” Wilkins told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.
Arsenal are in fourth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind leaders Chelsea.
