The Red Devils boss turned to the towering Belgium international to help the 20-time English champions see out a 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
However, Fellaini brought down Idrissa Gueye in the 89th minute to allow Leighton Baines to cancel out Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first-half opener from the penalty spot.
The defensive midfielder has started eight times and has made three appearances from the bench in the Red Devils’ 2016-17 Premier League campaign so far.
Fellaini was a regular under Mourinho’s predecessors Louis van Gaal and David Moyes after the Scot signed the tall midfielder in a £27m deal from Everton in 2013.
However, former Manchester United winger Gillespie can’t fathom why Fellaini continues to be given a chance in Mourinho’s side.
Why does every United manager keep playing Fellaini!!

The Red Devils are in sixth place in the Premier League table and 13 points behind leaders Chelsea after their 1-1 stalemate at Everton.
