Former Arsenal midfiedler delivers blunt verdict on Tottenham signing
Ray Parlour believes Newcastle did well to get £30m from Tottenham Hotspur for Moussa Sissoko
Ray Parlour believes Newcastle United completed an amazing bit of business after Tottenham Hotspur signed Moussa Sissoko in a club-record transfer in the summer.
The France international completed a £30m move to White Hart Lane from Championship side Newcastle on the final day of the summer transfer window.
Sissoko was criticised for his ineffective performances throughout Newcastle’s most-recent season in the Premier League after a return of one goal in 37 games last season.
The 27-year-old midfielder has made a muted start to his Lilywhites career after making a mere six appearances in the Premier League this season.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour admitted that he was impressed that Newcastle managed to sell Sissoko for £30m.
“He’s a good player. There’s no doubt. For the money Newcastle got for him – £30m, it was an absolutely brilliant deal for Newcastle,” Parlour told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.
Sissoko scored 12 times in 133 appearances in all competitions during a four-season stay at St James’ Park.
Tottenham signed five players in the summer transfer window following the north London side’s third-place finish in the Premier League table last term.
Spurs crashed out of the Champions League following a disappointing group-stage campaign.
