Garth Crooks warns Jose Mourinho about Man United striker
The Tottenham legend warns Jose Mourinho that he can ill-afford to lose Zlatan Ibrahimovic to injury
Garth Crooks has warned Jose Mourinho that Manchester United can ill-afford to lose Zlatan Ibrahimovic to injury.
The former Sweden international moved to the 20-time English champions in a free transfer from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
Ibrahimovic has made an effortless transition to the Premier League after an impressive return of 13 goals in 17 games in the current campaign.
The 35-year-old scored either side of half-time to secure three points in a 2-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.
Former Tottenham striker Crooks believes Manchester United would struggle if Ibrahimovic picked up an injury in the 2016-17 campaign.
“Manchester United are beginning to find a rhythm and putting a run together, but should anything happen to Ibrahimovic they will soon be back in the mire,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table and four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal in the hunt for a place in next season’s Champions League.
The Red Devils signed Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and Ibrahimovic in the summer transfer window following Mourinho’s appointment as manager in May.
