Gary Neville brands Marouane Fellaini ‘pathetic’ after Man United’s 1-1 draw at Everton
The Manchester United legend was not impressed at all...
Gary Neville hit out at Marouane Fellaini for his clumsiness after the Belgian came off the bench and conceded a penalty during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Everton.
United were leading thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first-half opener at Goodison Park.
Former Everton star Fellaini was brought on late on by Jose Mourinho to try and shore up the Manchester United defence.
However, the Belgium international conceded a penalty within moments of coming on when he brought down Idrissa Gueye in the box.
Leighton Baines then stepped up and duly converted the spot-kick to earn Everton a point on Merseyside.
It was a frustrating afternoon for the Red Devils and Neville was less than impressed by Fellaini’s late contribution.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “It’s just rubbish from Fellaini.
“It’s obvious – as soon as you commit yourself in the box you’re in danger of giving a penalty away. It’s garbage from him.
“It is really pathetic from such an experienced player. He’s come on to actually see a game out. No composure and it was obvious what was coming, you could see it a mile off.”
The 1-1 draw at Goodison Park left Manchester United in sixth place in the Premier League table and 13 points behind leaders Chelsea after 14 games of the new season.
