Gary Neville reacts as Man United fans boo Marouane Fellaini at Old Trafford

Gary Neville was not impressed to see some Manchester United fans boo Marouane Fellaini at Old Trafford

Gary Neville criticised the section of the Manchester United fans who booed Marouane Fellaini as he was warming up at Old Trafford during Sunday’s 1-0 win over Tottenham.

The Belgian international came in for plenty of criticism last weekend after he conceded a late penalty as United draw 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park.

With Manchester United leading 1-0 against Spurs thanks to Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s opener at Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho sent Fellaini to warm up.

However, the Belgian’s appearance on the sidelines sparked a series of jeers from some of the Manchester United faithful.

And Neville was not at all impressed to see that reaction from some of the home fans at Old Trafford.

Speaking during Sky Sports‘ live coverage of the game, Neville said: “United fans are booing Marouane Fellaini. That’s poor.

“Some of them have started to clap because you don’t want to see United fans booing players when they’re warming up here.

“It’s poor to see. He may not be their favourite player but that’s a step too far.”

Fellaini ended up being a late substitute at Old Trafford but the Red Devils held on to secure the win and claim the three points against the Lilywhites.

United are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table.
