Gary Neville reacts to Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s display in Man United’s 1-0 win over Tottenham

Gary Neville heaped praise on Henrikh Mkhitaryan after the playmaker continued his fine form by firing Manchester United to a 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday.

The Armenia international opened his account for the Red Devils by scoring in the 2-0 win over Zorya in the Europa League on Thursday night, and followed up that strike with his first Premier League goal on Sunday.

Mkhitaryan raced through on goal and blasted a powerful finish past Hugo Lloris to give United the lead in the 29th minute at Old Trafford.

It ended up being the only goal of the game as Jose Mourinho’s men returned to winning ways in the Premier League.

Mkhitaryan’s afternoon took a turn for the worse late on however, when he had to be carried off on a stretcher in the second half after suffering an apparent ankle injury during a clash with Danny Rose.

But former Manchester United defender Neville was particularly impressed by the Armenian’s display on Sunday.

Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “He’s been fantastic. It’s a good day with a disappointing end.

“He’s played so well. Along with Marcos Rojo he was the best Manchester United player in this match.

“He’s been excellent but I have to say, Rojo at the back has been very good as well for Manchester United.”
