Gary Neville reveals his favourite Chelsea performance of the season (so far)

The Manchester United legend reveals what he believes to be Chelsea's best performance of the season

Gary Neville has revealed which performance convinced the Manchester United legend that Chelsea are genuine Premier League title contenders this season.

The Blues have won their last 11 Premier League fixtures since a 3-0 defeat by title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in September.

The west London side have beaten title contenders Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur during their impressive winning run.

However, Neville was most impressed with Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Southampton at St Mary’s in October after goals from Diego Costa and Eden Hazard sealed three points for Conte’s side.

Speaking on the Gary Neville podcast, the former Manchester United defender explained what elements of their 2-0 victory over the Saints particularly stood out to him.

“I was so impressed with Chelsea on that day [against Southampton],” Neville said.

“They looked like a Championship team I’ve seen many a time over the years.

“Everything look right – the balance, the protection in front of the back three, the goalkeeper is reliable and those special players that can turn games like Hazard and Costa. Everything looks right. Add to that an experienced manager that’s won titles in different countries and players who have won titles.”

Chelsea are six points clear of second-placed Liverpool in the Premier League table after their 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues signed five players in the summer transfer window following the appointment of Conte as manager.
