Gary Neville heaps praise on Diego Costa for his impressive performance in Chelsea's 3-1 win at Manchester City
Gary Neville lavished praise on Diego Costa for his performance in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday lunchtime.
Costa has been one of the Premier League’s top strikers this season and he continued his fine form against The Citizens at The Etihad.
After Chelsea fell behind to Gary Cahill’s own goal in the first half, the Blues drew level when Costa expertly controlled Cesc Fabregas’ lofted pass and fired home.
Substitute Willian then fired Chelsea into the lead after behind fed by Costa.
And Eden Hazard added gloss to the scoreline when he fired home following a quick counter-attacking move by the Blues.
Costa earned plenty of praise for his performance and former Manchester United defender Neville was quick to single out the striker.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Neville said: “Diego Costa’s centre forward play in the second half was absolutely wonderful.”
He added: “I always think the best teams can counter-attack with devastation.
“And that (Willian’s goal) was devastating from Chelsea.”
