Gary Neville: This is the risk for Chelsea in the title race

Gary Neville says Chelsea's biggest problem in the title race could be injuries or suspensions to key players

Gary Neville believes that Chelsea’s biggest problem in the title race could come in the form of injuries or suspensions to their key players.

The Blues have firmly established themselves as the favourites to win the Premier League title this season after they stretched their winning run in the top flight to a staggering 11 games with victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Diego Costa scored the only goal of the game in the first half at Selhurst Park as Antonio Conte’s men stretched their lead at the top of the table.

Chelsea will be without both Costa and N’Golo Kante for their Boxing Day clash against Bournemouth at Stamford Bride due to suspension.

And former Manchester United defender Neville feels that injuries or suspensions are likely to be the only thing stopping Chelsea from winning the title this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday night, Neville said: “[Chelsea have] everything you would want to see in a championship-winning team.

“They’re not conceding goals and have protection in midfield with Kante and Matic. They’ve got two world-class forwards in Costa and Hazard, people who can change games.

“The only risk for Chelsea are injuries and suspensions because there is a big drop between Costa and Hazard and the players beneath them.”
