Gary Neville: This was the turning point in Chelsea’s season
The Manchester United legend reveals what he believes to be the biggest moment in Chelsea's 2016-17 season
Gary Neville believes Chelsea’s 4-0 win against Manchester United was the turning point in their 2016-17 season – so far.
The Blues moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League table after a 3-1 win against title rivals Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday afternoon.
The west London side have won their last eight Premier League games thanks to a return of 22 goals and six clean sheets.
Chelsea were 4-0 winners against their former manager Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United side at Stamford Bridge in October.
The Blues have since beaten title rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign.
Former Manchester United defender Neville believes Chelsea’s 4-0 victory over the Red Devils built crucial confidence among Antonio Conte’s players.
“It was a big moment that Manchester United game when they won their first big game. They got a lot of confidence from that day. They haven’t looked back from that moment,” Neville told Sky Sports.
Chelsea finished in tenth place in the Premier League table after a disappointing defence of their top-flight crown last term.
The Blues will host West Bromwich Albion in their next Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
