Gary Neville: Why I’m starting to trust Chelsea in title race

The Manchester United legend explains why he has increased faith in Chelsea in the Premier League title race

Gary Neville has revealed that he is starting to trust Chelsea in the Premier League title race.

The Blues extended their winning run to nine Premier League games on Sunday afternoon thanks to a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion ahead of their trip to strugglers Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night.

Spain international Diego Costa scored his 12th top-flight goal of the 2016-17 campaign after the centre-forward managed to force a mistake from West Brom defender Gareth McAuley in the second half at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have scored 23 goals and have kept seven clean sheets during their impressive nine-game winning streak before their trip to Sunderland.

In fact, the Blues haven’t lost a Premier League game since a 3-0 loss to Arsenal at The Emirates in September, which prompted Conte to change his tactics.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday afternoon, former Manchester United defender Neville explained how Chelsea are convincing him of their title-winning capabilities.

“A few weeks ago, I said there isn’t a team I trust. At the moment, Chelsea look the most trustworthy. Arsenal will be confident. It’s still so much up in the air,” Neville said.

Neville added: “Chelsea are looking like the team to beat because they are the most consistent.”

Chelsea won the Premier League in 2015.
