Glenn Hoddle: This Man United midfielder is a talent, he’ll become a top Premier League player

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is a big fan of Jesse Lingard and is expecting big things from him at Manchester United

Glenn Hoddle is confident that Jesse Lingard will blossom into a top player for Manchester United.

The England international has managed to establish himself as a first-team member at Old Trafford over the past 18 months after first coming into the side under Louis van Gaal.

The Dutch coach’s successor Jose Mourinho has utilised the versatile midfielder in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign and Lingard has made 13 top-flight appearances in the current campaign.

The 24-year-old midfielder teed up veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his opening goal in a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns Stadium on Saturday evening.

Former Tottenham star Hoddle, who managed England at the 1998 World Cup in France, talked up Lingard following the midfielder’s performance at West Brom.

“He’s one of those players who plays the ball and never stands still, even when he’s in possession. He’s a talent who you see can improve over the next two or three years. He’s going to be a top player,” Hoddle told BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show.
