Henrikh Mkhitaryan makes honest admission to Man United fans
Henrikh Mkhitaryan says his goal against Sunderland was the best he has ever scored
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has admitted that the goal he scored during Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Sunderland was the best of his career.
The Armenia international found the net with a brilliant backheeled effort to add to goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Daley Blind at Old Trafford.
The summer signing has begun to find his feet at Old Trafford after initially struggling to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League following his move from Borussia Dortmund.
And the 27-year-old has revealed his delight at helping Jose Mourinho’s men to notch up another three points against the Black Cats to continue their fine form in the Premier League.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website after the game, Mkhitaryan said: “That was the best goal I’ve ever scored.
“I was very excited. The first thing I did was look at the assistant and I saw it was not ruled as offside so I just started to celebrate.
“I was expecting the ball to be in front of me and then I realised I was in front of it. As the ball was behind me, the only thing I could do was a backheel so I did that and I succeeded.”
Mkhitaryan will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action with a home clash against Middlesbrough at Old Trafford on New Year’s Eve.
The Red Devils have now won their fourth game in a row in the Premier League under new boss Mourinho.
