Henrikh Mkhitaryan reacts to Man United’s 4-1 win over West Ham
The Manchester United summer signing delivers his verdict on the League Cup quarter-final victory
Henrikh Mkhitaryan hailed Manchester United’s performance after their 4-1 victory over West Ham United in the EFL Cup.
The Armenia international started his third game of the 2016-17 season after a £30m move to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Mkhitaryan scooped his second man of the match award in a week after the playmaker produced an influential performance in the heart of midfield.
The summer signing set up Anthony Martial and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Manchester United’s opening two goals of their 4-1 win in the EFL Cup last eight.
Mkhitaryan received a warm reception when he was replaced by England international Marcus Rashford in the second half after a dominant performance.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website after their 4-1 win in the League Cup, Mkhitaryan said:
“I’m excited for the performance, I’m excited for my performance,” Mkhitaryan said. “We’ve done a good job. We’ve tried our best to win because the last game, on Sunday against West Ham, wasn’t very good for us when we didn’t win. But I think this time everything worked out and we’re very pleased.”
Manchester United’s 4-1 win comes just days after their 1-1 stalemate with the Hammers in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils are in sixth place in the Premier League table and 11 points behind leaders Chelsea.
