Ian Wright delivers honest verdict on Chelsea and Arsenal’s title hopes

Ian Wright has his say on Arsenal and Chelsea's hopes of winning the Premier League title this season

Ian Wright believes that Arsenal and Chelsea are the two teams leading the race for the Premier League title this season.

Chelsea underlined their status as genuine challengers for the title when they beat West Brom 1-0 on Sunday to notch up their ninth straight win on the spin in the Premier League.

Arsenal, meanwhile, also kept up pace with the leaders when they came form a goal down to beat Stoke City 3-1 at The Emirates on Saturday.

Chelsea are currently leading the way at the top of the Premier League table and currently lead Arsenal by three points after 15 games.

Former Arsenal star Wright believes that Chelsea are clearly the team to beat on current form but feels the Gunners are establishing themselves as contenders, too.

Speaking to BT Sport on Sunday afternoon, Wright said: “That’s a big win for them [Chelsea] because it’s the ninth on the spin.

“It was a tough game and they know where they are. The pressure was on and they won the game. They’ve got a run of games coming now where you fancy them to win, so I do believe that Chelsea are the ones to beat.

“I think that Arsenal have a little bit more resoluteness about them and they can chase Chelsea. Tottenham have got half a chance. It’s wide open but Chelsea are the ones to beat.”
