Ian Wright tells Alex Iwobi that he must improve this at Arsenal
Ian Wright wants to see Alex Iwobi score more regularly for Arsenal moving forwards
Ian Wright has warned Alex Iwobi that he must start to score more goals for Arsenal.
The Nigerian midfielder was restored to the starting line-up for Arsenal’s clash against FC Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday night and the 20-year-old scored the Gunners’ fourth goal when he tapped home from close range.
Iwobi has earned plenty of new admirers since breaking into the Arsenal first team towards the end of last season.
However, Arsenal legend Wright believes that Iwobi should start looking to score goals on a more regular basis for the north London club.
Speaking on BT Sport on Tuesday night, Wright said: “That’s what I think he needs [more goals].
“I think he’s got everything and it’s good that Arsene Wenger eased him out of the team for a bit because he started to get a little bit stale with what he was doing.
“This goal [against Basel] will pep him up and he really did celebrate it with gusto.”
Iwobi will be hoping to feature when Arsenal return to Premier League action with a home clash against Stoke City this weekend.
The north London side are currently second in the Premier League and two points behind leaders Chelsea after 14 games of the new season.
