Ian Wright: This is my big worry about Arsenal under Arsene Wenger
The Arsenal legend wants to see Arsene Wenger's side make better starts to their Premier League games
Ian Wright believes Arsenal need to start their games more briskly ahead of their trip to West Ham United on Saturday evening.
The Gunners crashed out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night after a surprise 2-0 loss to Southampton in their quarter-final clash at The Emirates.
Arsenal’s League Cup setback brought to an end their 19-game unbeaten run in all competitions since a 4-3 loss to Liverpool in their opening Premier League fixture of the 2016-17 season.
The north London side still have an unbeaten Premier League record to protect when the Gunners make the short trip to the London Stadium on Saturday evening.
West Ham United played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the English top flight last weekend before a 4-1 loss to Jose Mourinho’s side in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes the key to victory will be the Gunners making a quick start in east London.
“You’d hope Arsenal can start a lot better than they’ve been starting – that’s the only problem I have with them,” Wright told The Sun Goals podcast.
“When Arsenal start quickly and get their momentum going, they look very good. They can really cause teams problems. When we start slowly it’s not good.”
