Ian Wright: This is what Arsenal are missing
The Arsenal legend wants Arsene Wenger's team to improve their intensity
Ian Wright has urged Arsenal to improve their intensity at the start of their games ahead of their clash at West Ham United on Saturday evening.
The Gunners were 3-1 winners against Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium last weekend thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez either side of half-time and Theo Walcott’s header.
Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League games since a 4-3 loss to title rivals Liverpool in their opening fixture of the 2016-17 season in north London in August.
The Gunners ended a run of three successive stalemates in all competitions thanks to their win over Eddie Howe’s side after draws with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes there is room for improvement, however, urging Wenger’s side to show more intensity at the start of their games.
“They started really well. It was a team that people would have expected Arsenal to beat,” Wright told BBC Radio Five Live’s 606 podcast.
“There is a lot of negativity about but they haven’t lost, they’ve won the game, you can only stay amongst it now. You hope they can continue to start games with that intensity. That’s the only thing that’s missing with Arsenal, for me.”
