Ian Wright: This Liverpool player is the glue in Jurgen Klopp’s side
The former Arsenal striker hails Adam Lallana's role in the Liverpool side
Ian Wright has hailed Adam Lallana as the glue in Liverpool’s side.
The England international has been in scintillating form in recent weeks following his return from an injury that the midfielder picked up on international duty.
Lallana has scored three times in Liverpool’s last two Premier League games ahead of the Merseyside derby to help Jurgen Klopp’s side remain unbeaten.
The attacking midfielder broke the deadlock in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United at Anfield earlier this month before Lallana netted twice in a 3-0 victory at Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium mid-week.
The ex-Southampton captain has scored six times and has made six assists in 14 Premier League appearances in the current campaign.
Speaking ahead of the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Monday night, former Arsenal striker Wright singled out Lallana’s performances under Klopp for special praise this term.
“You can see now that he has turned into that player at Liverpool so that he is the glue. He is the one,” Wright told The Sun Goals podcast.
“He links the midfielders and the forwards, especially while Philippe Coutinho is out as well. He has come to the fore.”
Lallana moved to Liverpool in a £25m deal from Southampton in the 2014 summer transfer window under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
