Ian Wright voices his main concern about Arsenal this season

Ian Wright has his say about Arsenal and their potential weaknesses this season

Ian Wright believes that it is the mental side of the game that could end up letting Arsenal down this season.

The north London side have made a strong start to the season and booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners when they sealed a 4-1 win over Basel on Tuesday night.

Arsenal have also been in strong form in the Premier League and were 5-1 winners at West Ham United last weekend to help them up to second place in the table.

The Gunners have come in for criticism for failing to win the Premier League since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.

And although Arsenal legend Wright has been encouraged by what he has seen from the Gunners this term, the former striker feels that it is their mentality that could let them down when it counts.

Speaking to BT Sport on Tuesday night, Wright said: “Going into November was worrying and I thought that they didn’t play well in the Spurs, Man United and PSG games.

“Yes, the beat Bournemouth and they beat a West Ham side the other day who were very poor.

“I’m not knocking Arsenal. I just think that they are good enough now – it’s the mental strength, going into certain games, knowing what you’re capable of doing and starting strong. That’s what I think they lack.”
