Ian Wright warns Tottenham ahead of January transfer window
Ian Wright says Tottenham need to strengthen in the January transfer window
Ian Wright has warned Tottenham that they are in need of reinforcements in the January transfer window to add further depth to the squad.
Spurs have made a mixed start to the new season under Mauricio Pochettino as they look to build on their third-placed finish in the Premier League last term.
The Lilywhites were dumped out of the Champions League at the group stage and currently sit seven points behind leaders Chelsea in the Premier League.
Spurs were pegged back and beaten 2-1 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend to leave Pochettino’s side in fifth place in the table.
Wright feels that Tottenham do have a strong starting XI but is concerned that they do not have enough squad depth to mount a serious title challenge.
Speaking to The Sun’s Goals podcast, Wright said: “The worrying thing for Spurs is the squad.
“We’ve heard Mauricio Pochettino saying he wants players. He needs better players than the players he got apart from his starting XI.
“You look past the starting XI, there isn’t much there.”

Tottenham were Leicester City’s closest challengers for the title for most of last season before they were pegged back and pipped to second place by Arsenal on the final day of the campaign.
