Ian Wright: What Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain needs to do at Arsenal
The Arsenal legend has urged Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be more ruthless
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain needs to be more ruthless in the Arsenal side, according to Ian Wright.
The England international scored Arsenal’s fourth goal in the north London outfit’s 5-1 victory over West Ham United on Saturday evening.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has now produced his best return in an Arsenal shirt since his move to the Gunners from Southampton in 2011.
The 23-year-old has netted six times and has made four assists in 20 appearances in all competitions in the 2016-17 season so far.
Oxlade-Chamberlain teed up Alexis Sanchez in the dying minutes of the Premier League clash as the Chile forward completed his hat-trick.
Former Arsenal striker Wright warned Oxlade-Chamberlain that he still needs to be more ruthless to secure a regular starting spot in Arsene Wenger’s side.
“He had a couple of chances where he could have done better and that is where, if he is really going to get in this team and stay in the team, that is where he has got to be more capable and ruthless, because he’s more than capable of doing it,” Wright told BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has only scored 20 times in 169 appearances in all competitions during his six-season stay at the Emirates Stadium.
