Ian Wright: What Arsenal must do to win the Premier League title

The Arsenal legend warns Arsene Wenger that Chelsea are the team to beat in the Premier League title race

Arsenal must beat Chelsea to win the Premier League title this season, according to the club’s former striker Ian Wright.

The Gunners have made a decent start to the 2016-17 season despite a 4-3 loss to title rivals Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in the opening fixture of the campaign and their 2-1 loss to Everton on Tuesday.

Arsenal have managed to avoid defeat against fellow title challengers Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur so far this season.

Arsene Wenger’s side were 3-0 winners against Antonio Conte’s side at The Emirates in September but the Italian has since led the west London outfit to nine successive Premier League victories, ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Sunderland on Wednesday night.

Former Arsenal striker Wright, who won the Premier League and the FA Cup in 1998, is under no illusion that Chelsea are the team to beat in the title race in the 2016-17 season.

“Fingers crossed they can stay with Chelsea. They’re the ones they are going to have to beat this season. If you beat Chelsea, you’re going to win it,” Wright told BBC Radio Five Live’s 606 podcast.
