Jamie Carragher states prediction for Liverpool v West Ham
Jamie Carragher believes West Ham are the perfect opponents for Liverpool to get back to winning ways
Jamie Carragher is backing Liverpool to get back on track with victory over West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds suffered a surprise 4-3 defeat by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon after Jurgen Klopp’s side conspired to twice squander a two-goal cushion on the south coast.
Liverpool’s memorable loss against Bournemouth was their first Premier League defeat since Burnley’s 2-0 victory over the Merseyside outfit in the second weekend of the 2016-17 season.
The Reds are in third place in the Premier League table and four points adrift of leaders Chelsea after 14 games.
However, former Liverpool defender Carragher is optimistic that Klopp’s men can make a swift return to winning ways against the perfect Premier League opponents – West Ham.
“They’ve got West Ham at home,” Carragher told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football show.
“The way West Ham are playing at the moment, if you’re going to pick one team to play at the moment, you’d pick West Ham with the goals that they’re conceding. We’ll see if they can get back on track.”
The Hammers suffered a resounding 5-1 loss to Liverpool’s title rivals Arsenal at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.
