Jack Wilshere delivers update on long-term Arsenal future
The Bournemouth midfielder discusses his future at Arsenal
Jack Wilshere admits he is unsure about his long-term future at Arsenal.
The England midfielder moved to Bournemouth on a season-long loan from the Gunners in the summer transfer window.
Wilshere has impressed for the Cherries after making 10 Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 season so far.
The Three Lions star was facing increased competition for places at the Emirates Stadium this season.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger signed Switzerland international Granit Xhaka in a £33m deal from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Bournemouth’s 4-3 win against Liverpool last weekend, Wilshere addressed the topic of his long-term future at the north London club.
“I know as much as everyone else knows,” Wilshere said.
“I read what the boss at Arsenal said. At the moment, I’m focused on performing for Bournemouth and putting myself in a position where Arsenal want to offer me a new contract.”
The Gunners were 3-1 winners against Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium last month.
The north London outfit haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira inspired the Gunners to glory.
However, Wenger’s side are three points adrift of current leaders Chelsea after 14 Premier League games so far.
