Jack Wilshere makes promise to Arsenal fans ahead of Chelsea clash
Jack Wilshere has promised Arsenal fans that he and his Bournemouth team-mates will try and do the Gunners a favour against Chelsea
Jack Wilshere has promised Arsenal fans that he and his Bournemouth team-mates will do everything in their power to try and beat Chelsea on Boxing Day and hand the Gunners a way back into the title race.
The Blues have been the standout performers in the Premier League this season and have won their last 11 games on the spin to leave them flying six points clear at the top of the table.
Arsenal have suffered a blow to their Premier League title hopes in recent weeks after suffering back to back defeats as the hands of Everton and Manchester City to leave Arsene Wenger’s men nine points behind leaders Chelsea.
Wilshere is currently midway through his loan spell at Bournemouth from Arsenal this season.
And the England international is hoping that he and his team-mates can do Arsenal a favour when they travel to Bournemouth on Boxing Day.
Wilshere is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “It is a difficult game going to Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea are a good team, they are unbeaten for 11 games. They look strong.
“I want Arsenal to do well so if we can beat them and do Arsenal a favour, everyone is happy.
“We wanted to win back to back games for the first time this season and felt we were in a good position to do that.
“We beat a good Leicester team and we were disappointed we didn’t play the way we know we can play at the weekend [against Southampton] and let ourselves down a bit.”
Arsenal, who finished second last season, are currently fourth in the table.
