Jamie Carragher makes exciting Man United prediction about Henrikh Mkhitaryan

The Liverpool legend is backing Henrikh Mkhitaryan to become an outstanding Manchester United player

Jamie Carragher is backing Henrikh Mkhitaryan to blossom into an outstanding player for Manchester United.

The Armenia international has started to find his feet at Old Trafford after a disappointing start to his Red Devils career.

The 27-year-old started one Premier League game in the opening four months of his Red Devils career after a subdued 45-minute performance in a 2-1 loss to Manchester City in the derby at Old Trafford in September.

Mkhitaryan didn’t make another appearance for the Red Devils until November, and the Armenian produced man of the match performances in 4-1 victories over Feyenoord and West Ham United in the Europa League and League Cup last month.

The £30m summer signing started just his second Premier League game in a 1-1 draw with Everton last weekend before he netted his first Manchester United goal in a 2-0 win at Zorya in Europe mid-week.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher is under no illusion that Mkhitaryan will prove to be a top player for Jose Mourinho.

“He was an outstanding performer in Germany and the signs are he will be the same for United. Everything he has done over the past seven days bodes well for the future and Jose Mourinho could do with him turning it on again tomorrow against Tottenham,” Carragher wrote in his Daily Mail column.
