Jamie Carragher reacts to Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Stoke City
Jamie Carragher has his say after Liverpool's 4-1 victory over Stoke City at Anfield in the Premier League
Jamie Carragher hailed Liverpool’s free-flowing attacking football after they came from behind to seal a 4-1 victory over Stoke City on Tuesday night in the Premier League.
Stoke took the lead in the 12th minute on Merseyside through Jonathan Walters, but Liverpool soon drew level through Adam Lallana’s fine finish.
Roberto Firmino then struck on the stroke of half-time to put Jurgen Klopp’s men ahead.
Giannelli Imbula’s own goal in the second half then made it 3-1 to the Reds, before Daniel Sturridge came off the bench to net a fourth and add further gloss to the scoreline.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Carragher said: “I thought they were excellent. It was the Liverpool that we expect to see week in, week out.
“Exciting, scoring goals, and you always feel like they’re going to score every time they attack.
“For Liverpool win that game 4-1 on the back of the first 30 minutes is a great win for them.”
The victory left Liverpool second in the Premier League table and six points behind leaders Chelsea heading into their clash with Manchester City at Anfield on New Year’s Eve.
The Reds finished in eighth place in the Premier League and without a trophy last season.
