Jamie Carragher reacts to Loris Karius’ performance in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham

The Liverpool legend delivers blunt verdict on Loris Karius' performance

Jamie Carragher has urged Loris Karius to shut up and focus on improving his performances after the Liverpool goalkeeper struggled against West Ham United.

The Germany Under-21 international looked set for a quiet afternoon following a forgettable display at Bournemouth last weekend after Adam Lallana broke the deadlock in the fifth minute.

However, Karius made a poor attempt to stop Dimitri Payet’s free-kick despite the West Ham midfielder’s central effort as the visitors managed to cancel out Lallana’s opener.

The Liverpool number one was indecisive after Joel Matip misjudged to a deflected long ball and Michail Antonio managed to poke his finish past Jurgen Klopp’s summer signing.

Carragher was heavily critical of Karius at the Vitality Stadium last weekend after the shot stopper’s poor handling led to Nathan Ake’s added-time winner on the south coast.

Speaking to Sky Sports at half-time, Carragher didn’t hold back in his assessment of Karius’ performance.

“The goalkeeper got criticised last week. He has come out this week and he has had a pop at Gary Neville – shut up and do your job! Doing you job and answering your critics would be saving that. That is not difficult [to save],” Carragher said.

“It isn’t even the corner and Dimitri Payet hasn’t hit it that hard.”

Liverpool will make the trip to Middlesbrough in their next Premier League game on Wednesday night.
