Jamie Carragher reacts to Man United’s 1-1 draw at Everton
Jamie Carragher gives his take on Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park
Jamie Carragher has warned Manchester United that they must start to turn their stuttering form around after they were pegged back and held to a 1-1 draw by Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils took the lead in the 43rd minute on Merseyside when Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s lofted shot bounced over the goal line.
However, substitute Marouane Fellaini conceded a sloppy penalty late on, and Leighton Baines duly converted the spot kick to condemn the Red Devils to another draw.
The result comes as another blow to United’s Premier League hopes, with the Red Devils now 13 points behind leaders Chelsea and Jose Mourinho’s men now sixth in the table.
And former Liverpool defender Carragher gave his instant verdict on Sky Sports after the final whistle.
Carragher said: “It’s a massive blow, and it’s not a one-off. It’s happened a lot this season, it feels.
“I was watching that today and thinking that United haven’t played as well as they have done in recent weeks it felt more like a ‘Mourinho’ performance. They were clinical at both ends so this is a massive blow.
“The reason he brought Fellaini on was as protection for that back four… and he just does something stupid like that…”
Manchester United have struggled to find consistent form in the Premier League this season since Mourinho’s appointment.
The Red Devils have now only won two of their last 10 Premier League outings this term.
