Jamie Carragher: This Chelsea star makes the difference, he’s on song

The Liverpool legend explains why he has been so impressed with Chelsea striker Diego Costa

Jamie Carragher has highlighted the impact that Diego Costa is having on the Chelsea team.

The Spain international has made a prolific start to the 2016-17 Premier League campaign after a return of 13 goals in 17 games under new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

Costa scored a first-half winner in the west London side’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea have won their last 11 Premier League games to hoist Antonio Conte’s side to the top of the table.

The former Atletico Madrid striker has scored eight times and has made four assists during Chelsea’s winning run.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Monday night, the former Liverpool defender lavished praise on Costa for the Spain international’s incredible start to the 2016-17 season.

“I think he’s the top goal-scorer in the league. He just makes a massive difference to Chelsea. When he’s on song, you just think that he will take some stopping,” Carragher said.

Costa moved to Chelsea in a £32m deal from La Liga side Atletico Madrid in the 2014 summer transfer window.
