Jamie Carragher: This is what will give Liverpool belief in the title race
Jamie Carragher discusses Liverpool's title hopes as they look to close the gap on leaders Chelsea
Jamie Carragher has suggested that Jurgen Klopp’s track record of winning major trophies could play a key part in Liverpool’s title hopes this season.
The Reds kept their title bid on track on Monday night when Sadio Mane scored a late winner deep into stoppage time as Liverpool claimed a 1-0 victory over Everton.
That win lifted the Merseyside outfit up to second place in the Premier League table and left them six points behind leaders Chelsea heading into the hectic festive period.
Klopp has been tasked with steering Liverpool back into the top four this season following his appointment as the club’s new manager last year after they finished in eighth place last term.
However, Carragher feels that Klopp’s record of success at Borussia Dortmund will play a big part Liverpool’s title hopes.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Monday night, Carragher said: “There is a belief they can win trophies under Jurgen Klopp. We saw Adam Lallana mentioning that a few weeks ago.
“He has a track record of success where ever has has been so that will give them belief.”
Liverpool will host Stoke City in their next Premier League game on 27 December.
