Jamie Redknapp lavishes praise on Man United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, compares him to Arsenal star

Jamie Redknapp praises Henrikh Mkhitaryan for his impressive form for Manchester United in recent days

Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on Henrikh Mkhitaryan following his good form for Manchester United in recent weeks.

The Armenia international endured a stuttering start to his career at Old Trafford but now appears to be finding form for the Red Devils.

The playmaker, who joined the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, scored his second goal in as many games on Sunday as he hit the winner in Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

Mkhitrayan’s afternoon took a turn for the worse late on however, when he was substituted late on with an apparent ankle injury.

However, Redknapp has been thoroughly impressed by what he’s seen from the playmaker in recent weeks and compared his style of play to the likes of Mesut Ozil and Philipp Coutinho.

Writing in his column for The Daily Mail, Redknapp said: “I don’t buy the argument that Henrikh Mkhitaryan needed time to adjust to the Premier League. If he had started sooner, I’m convinced Manchester United would have six or seven more points.

“He is like Philippe Coutinho or Mesut Ozil in his ability to unlock the door and see passes that others don’t. He shone in the fast and furious pace of the Bundesliga so why wasn’t he even on the bench for so long?

“Mkhitaryan’s goal was set up by Ander Herrera, who has been United’s unsung hero. He is by far the most improved player in the league this season.”
