Jamie Redknapp questions Jose Mourinho’s treatment of Man United’s ‘tremendous talent’
The Liverpool legend is confused by Jose Mourinho's treatment of Man United signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Jamie Redknapp has questioned Jose Mourinho’s treatment of Manchester United summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Red Devils snapped up the Armenia international in a £30m deal from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window as the attacking midfielder became the third of Mourinho’s four signings.
The 20-time English champions have made a disappointing start to the 2016-17 season – though, recording two Premier League victories in their last 10 outings in the top flight to leave them 11 points behind leaders Chelsea.
Mkhitaryan hasn’t started a Premier League game since Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat by Manchester City at Old Trafford when the Armenian playmaker was replaced at half-time following an ineffective first-half performance.
The former Dortmund man impressed on his first Europa League start last week as the attacking midfielder was named their man of the match after a 4-0 win against Feyenoord at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, Redknapp delivered his verdict on Mourinho’s handling of Mkhitaryan in the 2016-17 season so far.
“Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a tremendous talent,” he said.
“What is he waiting for? You’ve got to get him into the team. You signed him in the summer.”
