Jamie Redknapp reacts to Diego Costa’s display in Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Man City
Jamie Redknapp has his say on Chelsea's 3-1 win at Manchester City and Diego Costa's sparkling display
Jamie Redknapp heaped praise on Diego Costa after Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday lunchtime.
Premier League leaders Chelsea went behind in the first half at The Etihad when Gary Cahill inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
But the visitors fought back after the break and equalised thanks to Diego Costa’s low shot after half-time.
Substitute Willian was then put through by the unplayable Costa, and the Brazilian duly slotted home to make it 2-1.
And Eden Hazard wrapped up the three points with another devastating counter-attack as he fired home in stoppage time to add gloss to the scoreline.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Redknapp said: “Since the big miss by Kevin De Bruyne Chelsea were devastating.
“The pass by Cesc Fabregas [for the second goal] is probably the pass of the season.
“Costa bullied the Manchester City defence, they weren’t able to live with him.
“He was absolutely magnificent in the second half. He was the difference.”
The victory left Chelsea four points clear at the top of the Premier League table after 14 games of the season.
The Blues, who finished in 10th place last term, have now won their last eight Premier League games on the trot.
