Jamie Redknapp tells Liverpool to make these two signings in January
Jamie Redknapp feels that the Liverpool defence needs strengthening in January
Jamie Redknapp has told Liverpool that they must sign two new defenders in the January transfer window to boost their Premier League title hopes.
The Reds’ defence was once again called into question on Sunday afternoon when they twice squandered a two-goal lead and conceded four goals in the second half to lose 4-3 to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
The result came as a blow to Liverpool’s title hopes and left the Reds trailing Premier League leaders Chelsea by four points after 14 games of the new campaign.
There have rightly been questions asked about Liverpool’s back four after their shaky performance against Bournemouth at the weekend.
And Redknapp believes that Klopp must act to address the problem by signing a new centre-half and left-back in the January transfer window.
Writing in his column for The Daily Mail, Redknapp said: “They should have had that [Bournemouth] game wrapped up and it is something Jurgen Klopp must address.
“[James] Milner has done well this season but if Liverpool are to sustain a challenge, they need another left-back and centre-back in January.”
