Jamie Redknapp: This Tottenham midfielder worth more than £50m

The former Spurs midfielder discusses Dele Alli's value to Mauricio Pochettino's side

Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli could command a £50m transfer fee.

The England international played an instrumental role in Tottenham’s 4-1 win against Southampton at St Mary’s in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Alli scored twice in the north London side’s emphatic Premier League win as Mauricio Pochettino’s side came from behind to secure a vital three points.

The attacking midfielder has scored 16 times and has made 10 assists in 50 appearances in all competitions since his move to Spurs from MK Dons in 2015.

Alli was named the PFA young player of the year in April 2016 after the playmaker helped Tottenham challenge Leicester City for the 2015-16 Premier League title.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Tottenham’s impressive 4-1 win against Southampton, Redknapp discussed how much Alli would be worth in the January transfer window.

“He possesses everything to become one of the best midfielders in the world,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“They paid £5m for him. He’s now a £50m-plus player. He scores goals, he makes goals and he’s got that devilment that all good midfielders possess.

“He’s a sensational footballer – Tottenham are extremely lucky to have him. It’s amazing to see how quickly he’s become of the best players around. I think there’s so much more to come from him, too.”

Tottenham’s 4-1 win at Southampton was their first Premier League win on the road since September after a mixed spell in the title race for Spurs.
