Jamie Redknapp: Why Chelsea are so dangerous at the moment
The former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder discusses Chelsea's strengths in the Premier League title race
Jamie Redknapp says Chelsea are a very dangerous counter-attacking side after their 3-1 win at Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues managed to extend their winning record to eight games despite England defender Gary Cahill scoring a first-half own goal at the Etihad Stadium.
Spain international Diego Costa managed to level the Premier League clash after he broke past the City defence and tucked a finish past goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
Willian completed a sweeping counter-attacking move to edge Chelsea into a 2-1 lead before Eden Hazard completed the west London side’s stunning 3-1 victory.
The Blues have managed to win their last eight Premier League games after scoring 19 times and keeping seven clean sheets.
Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Redknapp explained why Chelsea are so potent in the Premier League title race at the moment.
“They had to suffer to win this game. They should have been 2-0 down,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“Manchester City had enough chances to win this game an put Chelsea to bed. That’s where Chelsea are so dangerous at the moment on the counter attack. They looked a really good side in the second half.”
