Jermaine Jenas issues warning to Chelsea about Liverpool in title race
The former Tottenham midfielder believes Liverpool could push Chelsea all the way in the title race
Jermaine Jenas believes Liverpool are the team that are most likely to catch Chelsea in the Premier League title race.
The Blues moved further clear in the Premier League title race on Saturday afternoon after the west London side were 1-0 winners at Crystal Palace thanks to Diego Costa’s first-half header.
Chelsea have won their last 11 Premier League games to underline their status as genuine title contenders this season after collecting maximum points since their 3-0 loss at Arsenal in September.
Liverpool have lost ground in the title race in recent weeks following stalemates with Southampton and West Ham United as well as a dramatic 4-3 loss to Bournemouth earlier this month.
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jenas has singled out Jurgen Klopp’s men as Chelsea’s biggest rivals in the title race.
“Chelsea are favourites right now. Manchester United are giving it a right go. There is Tottenham,” Jenas told Match of the Day.
“Liverpool are the team that are favourites to catch them but they’ve got defensive issues. I think they [Chelsea] are favourites to take it.”
Liverpool were 2-1 winners against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League in September.
The Reds have only lost two Premier League games this season following defeats by Burnley and Bournemouth.
