John Aldridge: This is how Liverpool must react to Bournemouth loss
The former Liverpool striker wants to see the Reds respond to their Bournemouth setback with a 15-game unbeaten run
John Aldridge has urged Liverpool to piece together a winning run after their surprise 4-3 loss to Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds travelled to the Vitality Stadium unbeaten in 11 Premier League fixtures since a 2-0 defeat by promoted side Burnley at Turf Moor in August.
Liverpool suffered a surprise defeat by Sean Dyche’s side but responded in style with an impressive run in the Premier League to hoist them to the top of the table.
However, a stalemate with Southampton followed by a 4-3 defeat at Bournemouth has left Jurgen Klopp’s side in third place and four points behind leaders Chelsea.
Former Liverpool striker Aldridge is hoping that the Merseyside outfit can respond like they managed to do after their Burnley setback and go on a long unbeaten run.
“The last time Liverpool lost a game of football, they went 15 games unbeaten,” Aldridge wrote in the Liverpool Echo.
“It would be nice to respond in a similar fashion this time.
“I wouldn’t be setting any sort of points target or anything like that, though. It’s simply about focusing on making amends in the next game.
“It would be better if they were playing on Wednesday, because as a player you want to get out a performance like Bournemouth out of your system, but Saturday it is.
“We’re more than capable of bouncing back, as well. That’s not to take anything away from West Ham.”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table and lost in the League Cup and Europa League finals last season after appointing Klopp as their new manager back in October 2015.
