John Barnes predicts where Arsenal will finish this season

John Barnes feels that Arsenal will be one of the strongest contenders for the Premier League title this season

John Barnes believes that Arsenal will be one of the main contenders to win the Premier League title come the end of the season.

The north London side are currently preparing for their crunch clash against Manchester City at The Etihad as they look to keep themselves in contention to win the Premier League title.

Arsenal have been criticised for their failure to maintain title challenges in recent seasons, with Arsene Wenger’s men having finished second and without a trophy last term.

The Gunners are being tipped as one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season as they look to end their long wait for the trophy.

And Liverpool legend Barnes believes that there are plenty of reasons for Arsenal fans to be positive, given their start to the season under Wenger.

“They’ll be competitive right towards the end and have the possibility of winning the league,” said Barnes, speaking in an exclusive interview with The Sport Review.

“They’re a consistent side and they can win the league. They’re playing well – losing at Goodison isn’t a bad result because Everton are a good side.

“I think that Arsenal are similar to Liverpool – can they play badly and win? That has been Arsenal’s problem. But that’s not to say that isn’t going to change this year.

“Granit Xhaka and the midfield players they’ve signed, and the fact they’re better defensively means they could go closer this year than they have done for a while.”
