Jose Mourinho delivers latest Man United injury update on Eric Bailly
Jose Mourinho says Manchester United are waiting to know the extent of Eric Bailly's knee injury
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United are waiting to assess the seriousness of Eric Bailly’s suspected knee injury after the defender was forced off during the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night in the Premier League.
Bailly, who joined Manchester United from Villarreal in the summer transfer window, had only just recovered from another knee problem which kept him out of action for a number of weeks.
The Ivorian defender tried to continue playing but he was eventually forced off in the second half and replaced by Matteo Darmian, before Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted the Red Devils’ winning goal late on.
Quizzed immediately after the game, Mourinho said he did not yet know the extent of Bailly’s injury, but praised the defender for his fighting spirit after the final whistle.
Speaking to BT Sport, Mourinho said: “We don’t know [if it’s serious]. It’s not the same knee. The other injury was his left knee so it’s not coming back to a previous injury.
“Of course he has a problem, we don’t know the dimension [of it]. But he showed an amazing character to try until his limit.”
It remains to be seen whether Bailly will be fit for Manchester United’s trip to West Brom in the Premier League on Saturday night.
