Jose Mourinho discusses potential Man United exits in January transfer window
Jose Mourinho discusses the possibility of some of his Manchester United players wanting to leave the club in January
Jose Mourinho has insisted that he would understand if certain players asked to leave Manchester United in the forthcoming January transfer window.
The Portuguese coach has been forced to leave out a number of his players this season on a regular basis as he continues to experiment with his best team and formation at Old Trafford.
The likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Memphis Depay have seen their first-team opportunities at Old Trafford severely restricted under the Portuguese coach at Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen whether any players will ask to leave the club in the January transfer window.
However, Mourinho has accepted that some players may want to leave the club in search of regular first-team football in January.
Speaking to United’s website before Sunday’s clash with Everton, Mourinho said: “Because of rotation, I will play one on one day, leave him at home one day and then start him from the bench on one day – nobody deserves to be pushed [to leave], though.
“I will not push anyone because nobody deserves that. The way they work, they don’t deserve that.
“I will have to understand that frustration comes to the players at certain points in the season and I will try to realise when someone tells me that frustration has given them a desire to leave.
“For me, I am very comfortable with the squad, but it hurts me to leave them out.”
Manchester United are aiming to break back into the top four this season after their fifth-placed finish and FA Cup triumph under Louis van Gaal.
