Jose Mourinho lavishes praise on Man United midfielder: He is phenomenal

Jose Mourinho heaps praise on Ander Herrera following his strong performances for Manchester United this season

Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Ander Herrera following the Spaniard’s strong start to the season with Manchester United.

The Spanish midfielder is a firm favourite amongst the Manchester United faithful and has been a regular fixture in the Red Devils side this season under new boss Mourinho.

Herrera will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the starting line-up during the hectic festive period in the Premier League.

And Mourinho has been delighted with the way in which Herrera has been performing for the Red Devils so far this season.

Speaking to MUTV ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Crystal Palace, Mourinho said: “I think the most important thing for a player is the manager and the fans.

“Ander has [the backing of] both the manager and the fans. So I don’t think he’s worried about others bringing him to the limelight; he knows that he is having a phenomenal season for us.

“That is why he plays, that is why he had his international debut with the Spanish national team. And yes, I think our midfield was very good on Sunday, all of them, so I’m happy for them.”

Manchester United moved quickly to appoint Mourinho as the club’s new manager back in May following the sacking of Louis van Gaal.
