Jose Mourinho makes Christmas vow to Man United fans

Jose Mourinho has promised Manchester United fans that the Red Devils are heading in the right direction

Jose Mourinho has thanked Manchester United for their relentless support during the first six months of his reign at Old Trafford.

It was something of a mixed start for the Portuguese coach at Old Trafford following his appointment as Manchester United’s new manager back in May.

The Red Devils struggled to produce consistent displays in the Premier League as they fell a considerable distance behind leaders Chelsea.

However, Manchester United have begun to show some much improved form under new boss Mourinho and have won their last three games in a row in the Premier League.

Despite still trailing Premier League leaders Chelsea by 13 points heading into the hectic festive schedule, there is a sense of optimism around Old Trafford and Mourinho’s team at the moment.

And Mourinho simply wanted to thank Manchester United’s fans for their support so far this season as the new year approaches.

Asked if he had a message for Manchester United fans, Mourinho told Sky Sports: “To thank them, because I know they believe in us.

“So there is no point in saying: ‘Believe in us, give us time, we are going to do it.’ I think they believe in us, I think they are together with the team, I never had bad matches or bad results at home and felt the people so supportive as they have.

“We are together, so just stay healthy and stay with us, 2017 will be better than 2016. I think we are really together. There is a sense of unity between us and the fans. I’m loving that feeling a lot.”
