Jose Mourinho makes honest admission about Man United striker Anthony Martial
Jose Mourinho says Anthony Martial is working harder than ever at Manchester United
Jose Mourinho has revealed that Anthony Martial has stepped his work-rate up in recent weeks at Manchester United.
The Manchester United striker has struggled to find consistent form for the Red Devils this season after enjoying a stellar breakthrough campaign at Old Trafford last term.
Martial was a regular fixture in the Manchester United line-up last season following his summer move to the club from Monaco in 2015.
However, the French forward has struggled to replicate his consistent performances from last term this season under new boss Mourinho at Old Trafford.
Martial did score twice in the 4-1 EFL Cup win over West Ham United at Old Trafford in midweek, but the forward has still only found the net once in the Premier League.
But Mourinho has been encouraged by what he’s seen from Martial at Carrington in recent days in the build-up to Sunday’s clash with Everton.
Speaking to United’s website, Mourinho said: “He is working harder than before, to be honest.
“When you score goals I think it helps for happiness to be back. As an attacking player you can play very, very well, but if there are no goals then the happiness is not there.”
Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season.
