Jose Mourinho predicts where Man United will finish this season

Jose Mourinho is confident that Manchester United can finish higher than fourth in the Premier League this term

Jose Mourinho insists that he is confident his Manchester United team can finish higher than fourth place in the Premier League this season.

The Manchester United boss has been tasked with steering the Red Devils back into the Champions League places after being appointed as the club’s new manager over the summer.

The Red Devils finished fifth and won the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal last season as they missed out on a spot in Europe’s elite club competition.

It has been something of a mixed start to life for Mourinho at Old Trafford but the Red Devils now seem to be finding their form under their new boss.

Manchester United have won their last three games on the spin in the Premier League to boost their hopes of a top-four finish, even though they still lie in sixth place in the table.

However, Mourinho is confident that his side can now begin to climb the Premier League table.

“For me to be happy, it’s an accumulation of factors,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.

“For me to be happy is the way we end the season playing, the evolution of the team, the empathy with the supporters, the results in many different competitions we are playing.

“So let’s see where we finish, I don’t want to say fourth, because I think we can do better than fourth.

“But we have the risk of not finishing fourth because the competition is so hard and the top teams have the same ambitions as we have. So I don’t want to say fourth or third or fifth.”
