Jose Mourinho sets out bold Man United target for the season

Jose Mourinho says Manchester United are still looking to win the Premier League title this season

Jose Mourinho has insisted that Manchester United have not given up hope of winning the Premier League title this season.

The Red Devils have endured something of a stuttering start to life under their new manager following his appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.

United have struggled to find consistent form in the top flight under the Portuguese coach and are currently more than 10 points behind leaders Chelsea.

However, although Mourinho concedes that the Red Devils have serious ground to make up in the title race, the Portuguese coach insists that catching Chelsea still remains Manchester United’s target.

Speaking in an interview with BT Sport before Wednesday night’s clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, Mourinho said: “The aim is to be champions, that’s the destination.

“This season the distance is a considerable distance.

“Even if you have a good run of results, you are always depending upon what the others are doing.

“We are going to try, we are still in the fight.”

Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal last season before the Dutchman was sacked back in May.
