Jose Mourinho: This Man United player is amazing me

Jose Mourinho could not hide his delight at Zlatan Ibrahimovic's fine form for Manchester United this season

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he has been delighted by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s form for Manchester United in recent weeks.

There had been doubts about the Swedish striker’s ability to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League following his arrival at Old Trafford on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

However, the 35-year-old has proved his critics wrong with his fine displays for the Red Devils in recent weeks.

Ibrahimovic continued his good form on Monday when he scored one and set up two in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Sunderland in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

And Mourinho has been delighted with Ibrahimovic’s impact at Manchester United following his 12th goal in the Premier League for the Red Devils this term.

Speaking to Manchester United’s website after the game, Mourinho said: “He should score more! He had a [chance for] 2-0 in front of [Jordan] Pickford that I thought: ‘2-0 and game over and no’.

“But, independent of the goals, his work is amazing. I saw him making runs against Kone and Papy Djilobodji, young guys, but he was faster and stronger than them. Great.”
